Golf Factor 2011 Information Update
Golf Factor Yorkshire Finals Weekend!
Golf Factor 3 reached its climax over the weekend with a tough “boot camp” style
skills testing day for the contestants on Saturday followed by 18 holes of golf
around the rugged, moorland test of Crosland Heath Golf Club in Huddersfield, West
Yorkshire on Sunday. The final produced a local and very worthy winner in the shape
of George Brady, a 15 year old member of Longley Park Golf Club from Upper Hopton
in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.
Saturday morning saw the final of the Future Stars Skills Challenge producing the
inaugural winner of the event in the shape of Louie Tissiman from Garforth in Leeds
who carded a superb score of 88 points on a difficult set of skills challenges.
Louie was followed closely by Caleb Auty with 86 and Aaron Doward on 83. Louis received
a custom fitted set of John Letters Swingmaster clubs for his efforts as well as
a year’s membership of the John Letters Academy Club all aimed at improving his
game.
Saturday morning also saw the golf factor finalists accuracy tested in a second
audition in front of the judging panel, scored on the their ability to drive the
ball, play irons to a target and also chipping the ball. At lunch time the scores
were assessed and the group was reduced in size to 20 young golfers. In the afternoon,
putting, bunker play and lob shots were assessed. At the close of boot camp Saturday
the group was again reduced to 13 players whom would compete in the final.
The day of the final brought cold and windy conditions to test even the most skilled
golfer. Indeed tournament professional Chris Hanson remarked that he” would not
fancy it!” However the finalists relished the conditions and played some fantastic
golf. None more so than George Brady whom impressed the judging panel throughout
the competition with his level headed approach and scored a hugely impressive 42
points in cold and windy conditions in the final.
Second place fell to Bradley Johnston who also scored best gross of the day with
a projected 78. Bradley takes up a place in the newly formed Lee Westwood Academy
in Cheshire later in the year and is certainly a player to watch in the future!
In 3rd was Golf Factor regular George Nicholson aged just 11. George was delighted
with the result and in particular the prize package that goes along with becoming
a golf factor winner!

time and raised some funds for the chris gill junior golf foundation by attempting
a very tough trick shot which involved bouncing the golf ball off 6 stone flags
